Palm Sunday, April 9
Passion / Palm Sunday begins Holy Week, a time in the church year when we remember how Christ gave his life in love for the world. As this service opens, the crowd waves palm branches, wanting to crown Jesus as king. But as the story of the passion unfolds, their shouts of praise turn to demands for his crucifixion; he receives a crown of thorns as he is handed over to be mocked and killed. Services times: 8:30, 9:30 and 11:00 AM
Maundy Thursday, April 13, 7 PM
...is the Thursday of Holy week when Jesus met with his disciples in the upper room, washed their feet, celebrated Passover with them in the Seder feast, saw Judas leave to begin the betrayal, and then went out to the Garden of Gethsemane.
During the evening we will take time that night to experience foot washing in some form, as well as the sacrament of communion. There will also be a reader's theater.
Good Friday, April 14, 12 PM
Good Friday is the day we remember Jesus’ crucifixion. The hours of noon to 3 p.m. are particularly significant as these commemorate the time Jesus hung on the cross. It is an especially important time to pray for the church and the world, and all for whom Christ gave his life.
The sanctuary will be open for prayer between noon and 3:00 PM.
The women went into the tomb, and on the right side they saw a young man in a white robe sitting there. They were alarmed. The man said, “Don’t be alarmed! You are looking for Jesus from Nazareth, who was nailed to a cross. God has raised him to life, and he isn’t here. You can see the place where they put his body. Now go and tell his disciples, and especially Peter, that he will go ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you.” - Mark 16:5-7 (CEV)
