(TEV) Proverbs 19:2
Enthusiasm without knowledge is not good; impatience will get you into trouble.

Our Mission

Is to reach out to our community with the love and grace offered in Jesus Christ.

bullet

Goal 1: We will reach the community through joyous worship!

That includes offering three services of worship, each in a different style every Sunday morning.

Our 8:30 am worship service is only a half hour long, with just the essentials, two hymns, prayer, scripture, sermon, and congregational information. People come to the service early in the day so that they can be in worship as well do other things on Sunday. The service appeals to empty nesters and those married without children, as well as singles, people who valuetheir privacy in worship, and those who don't sing much.

Our 9:30 am service features a contemporary music praise group.  Praise is followed by an interactive teaching time that focuses on the bible lessons for the day found in the lectionary. A good link to discover the lectionary texts for each Sunday is www.textweek.com.

Our 11:00 am service is much more traditional Presbyterian, with at least one choir singing each Sunday, lots of music, and all kinds of special events.

The sacrament of communion is offered at all three services on the first Sunday of the month except in September, when communion is celebrated on the second Sunday. Baptism is administered when requested by the person and/or family and approved by the Session (the church's leadership board).

Goal 2: We will reach the community through lots of small groups.

We have many small groups. The newest ones are: Theology Unleashed, a discussion of major theological issues and difficult topics; The Chronicles of Narnia; and The Bible for Beginners. In the fall, we plan to start several new study groups, including: Worship and Prayer for Beginners, The Fifty Greatest Bible Stories, and The Tolkien Table.

Goal 3: We will reach the community by being the community's center.

We are a community center, with a Boy Scout Troop, Venture Crew, Cub Scout Pack and two Girl Scout Troops are using the building. We also host an AA group, The Country Garden Club (The local flower club), and the Otisville Seniors.

Hate stirs up trouble, but love forgives all offenses.
